Winter FeedingSheep HandlingFoot TrimmingPractical Lambing

The Small Shepherds Club provides training and support for people who have or would like to have a small flock of sheep and want to learn how to care for them properly. We have nearly 300 members mainly in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire with a few from Kent and even further afield.

The Club has an interesting and enjoyable annual programme of events to help you develop the knowledge and skills you need to look after your sheep. These range from hands on demos of routine handling such as foot care, worming and protecting against flystrike, preparation for and practical lambing, farm visits  and talks on topics as diverse as grassland management, equipment, feeding, winter care, legal requirements, medicine handling and transport regulations.

The Club has a panel of sheep advisers - these are experienced members of the Club who are willing to provide help and guidance on caring for your sheep. Members can also join our friendly and lively private Facebook Group.

Our monthy email update includes details of planned events, topical advice, up to date shepherding advice, the latest new products, disease risk, and a section advertising sheep or equipment. There is also an occasional newsletter with longer articles on specific topics.

Our annual show at the beginning of September is a great event where you can try your hand a showing in a friendly and supportive environment.

You don’t have to be small or have sheep at all. If you are thinking about keeping sheep, now’s the time to join and find out what’s involved in caring for a flock.
