Animal Reporting and Movement Service (ARAMS)
The online for reporting the movement of sheep within England.

The Rural Payments Agency
Contact the RPA to obtain a holding (CPH) number. You need to do this by phone (03000 200 301) - you cannot do this online.


National Organisations

British Coloured Sheep Breeders Association
For those interested in coloured sheep or wool

British Wool Marketing Board
The organisation that collects, grades and pays you for your wool. You are obliged to register with the British Wool Marketing Board if you own more than 4 sheep.

AHDB Beef & Lamb  - The Organisation for the English beef and sheep industry
Provides an excellent range of downloadable booklets on sheep husbandry as part of the Better Returns Programme (BRP)

National Animal Disease Information Service (NADIS)
For a range of online training modules and webinars on important aspects of sheep health. They also produce a monthly parasite forecast.

National Fallen Stock Company
National Service for the collection and disposal of fallen stock.

NOAH Compendium of Animal Medicines
The National Office of Animal Health provides an online database of animal licenced animal medication including use, dosage, contra-indications and withdrawal times.

National Sheep Association (NSA)
National Organisation representing the interests of sheep farmers

Rare Breed Survival Trust (RBST)
National charity dedicated to saving Britain’s native far livesstock. Many Small Shepherds Club members keep native or rare breed sheep.

The Sheep Trust
Dedicated to protecting heritage sheep breeds, particularly those traditionally farmed.

If livestock dies on your farm, burial or burning is not permitted. You must arrange for them (including stillborn animals) to be transported to or collected by an approved knacker.  Hunt kennels will also collect fallen stock. For more information or to locate an approved knacker or hunt kennel local to you, contact your local Animal Health Office. Alternatively register with the National Fallen Stock Company.
